Border tiles in encaustic cement

A border edges a floor, frames a pattern, outlines a room. Here are borders laid in our clients' homes with Maison Bahya encaustic cement tiles: around tile rugs, along hallways and corridors, even around a doormat set into the floor. Under each photo, the name of the border and the design.

Our encaustic border tiles

We make our borders in any size. They come from our catalogue or can be made to measure: a design you bring us, or a catalogue border personalised in your colours, from our 78 shades.

Like all our tiles, a border is made by hand. Every design starts with a divider, a brass stencil made for that design alone, and the pattern runs through the body of the tile, so it does not wear away underfoot.

Internal and external corners

A border turns with the room. We make internal corners, for the inside corners of a wall or a tile rug, and external corners, to go round a pillar, a step or a return in a wall. The pattern stays continuous from one side to the other.

Borders in a tile rug

The most common use of a border is the tile rug: a pattern in the centre, a border around it, and a band of plain tiles out to the walls. In a corridor, a border laid lengthways stretches the space. In a hallway, it can frame a doormat set into the floor.

Our border catalogue

All our borders are gathered in a catalogue you can download from our catalogues page (in French).
