Skirting tiles in encaustic cement

Skirting makes the join between floor and wall. In encaustic cement, it carries the floor's colour up the wall, or outlines it in a contrasting shade. Here are skirting tiles laid in our clients' homes with their Maison Bahya encaustic cement floors, in bathrooms and cloakrooms. Under each photo, the name of the design.

Our encaustic skirting tiles

Our skirting tiles are 20 cm long and 10 cm high, five to the metre. They are 12 mm thick, like our wall tiles. The top edge is rounded so that dust does not settle on it.

They are sold by the linear metre. To work out how much you need, measure the perimeter of the room and subtract the width of the doorways.

Skirting that matches the floor

Our skirting tiles are plain. In the colour of your floor, they carry it up the wall; in a contrasting shade, they outline the room. Each colour is chosen from our 78 shades.

For a pattern, a 10x20 cm border tile can serve as skirting. Its top edge is then straight rather than rounded.

Skirting is not a technical requirement. Some projects do without it for a cleaner look: it is a choice of appearance, made together with the floor.

Where to use skirting tiles

Wherever the floor is encaustic cement: in a cloakroom, a bathroom, a hallway or a corridor. For the floor itself, see our patterned floor tiles.

Skirting tiles are laid with the floor and treated the same way: sealer before grout, never after.

Order samples to see the colours in your own light, or design your tile in the tile designer and ask for a quote for the floor and its skirting.
