Re-editing old cement tiles

As part of renovating an old house, you might fall in love with vintage cement tiles. Maybe you’ve seen them in a café or while traveling abroad. They might also come from a building’s lobby or remind you of your childhood home. We can recreate vintage patterns that are now impossible to find.

Let’s revive the treasures of the 20th century!

The craftsmanship of Maison Bahya allows us to create unique cement tiles. They can be inspired by a journey, a crush, or a discovery made by our clients. Our cement tiles are handcrafted in our workshop, tailored to meet specific requests.

Our artisans can reproduce any geometric shapes. Choosing the right flooring for your home is an important decision. Maison Bahya will help you choose the colorful cement and geometric patterns of your dreams. A cement tile floor will bring charm to your home.

Vintage Cement Tile Sizes

Some vintage cement tile patterns are timeless, even if their sizes have changed slightly.
Cement tiles in 10x10cm or 15x15cm, and sometimes even 18x18cm, were common in the past century.

Today, the 20x20cm size is much more common for economic reasons. A 10x10cm tile requires four times more work than a 20x20cm tile.

Each piece is made by hand. The work is almost the same, regardless of the tile size. The smaller the tile, the more work is required to cover a surface.

Maison Bahya can reproduce a vintage cement tile, regardless of its shape, size, or pattern.

Our reissues include all forms: square, diamond, hexagonal, octagonal, and even very specific shapes made to order. Recently, we reissued a particular format for a couple renovating an American-style home in Cap Corse. We created a "shuttle" format to match the exact dimensions of the tiles that adorned this beautiful residence.

The dining room of this grand house regained its former charm. What a pleasure to bring traditional cement tiles back to life that are no longer found today…

Maison Bahya works every day to modernize cement tiles. We continue to admire the creative craftsmanship behind certain "retro" cement tiles.

Coming from another time or distant lands, these types of tiles inspire us. Cement tiles are a testament to artisanal craftsmanship. They carry the influences of different eras and regions, offering endless creative possibilities.

We aim to reissue these decorative treasures and bring them back into your interiors. They will echo a memory, a journey, or a place in your daily life.

Maison Bahya regularly collaborates with hotels and restaurants for renovation projects of iconic spaces. We reissue vintage cement tiles that were installed decades ago, preserving the charm of these places. Reproducing them identically allows the creation of new spaces while maintaining the original soul of these magical locations.

This unique expertise of Maison Bahya is something we are delighted to offer to individuals. We know the joy of installing a model of cement tiles in a home. We put our heart into it.

Frequently Asked Questions about Reissuing Vintage Cement Tiles

Will there be a noticeable difference between the reissued/new tiles and the original ones?

Yes, it’s inevitable. The original tiles are worn and have developed a patina, while the cement tiles we create are new. They are made using the same artisanal process as before. Only time will give your reissued tiles a beautiful patina.

However, careful selection of colors from our palette can produce stunning results, even when installing your reissued tiles next to the original ones.

Our tip: Have your original tiles renovated to reduce the difference between the old and the new. Cleaning your old tiles will give them a fresher look and brighter colors, reducing the contrast with the new ones. Don’t forget to re-seal the entire surface. The sealer will make your cement tiles, both new and old, waterproof.

This will make daily maintenance much easier.

How much does it cost?

The price of your reissued tiles is the same as the other models in our catalog. The cost depends on their size and the number of colors we need to use. The only additional cost for a vintage tile reproduction project is a fixed fee. This fee covers the creation of the brass divider needed to produce your tiles with the desired pattern. If you want a price estimate, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Some particularly complex patterns, with very small areas, may take us much more time to produce than average. In such cases, we apply a slightly higher price per square meter, but always fair and reasonable.

Do you already have some vintage patterns available?

We have over 300 vintage patterns in our workshop. Before anything else, show us the pattern you want to reproduce. We will first check if it is already part of our collection of vintage designs.
Not all of our patterns are included in the simulator—it would be overwhelming! You can browse them in our Grand Catalogue, which can be downloaded here.

If you have a vintage cement tile reproduction project and would like to discuss it, feel free to contact us and send us a photo of your tiles by email.
