Corridor tiles: patterns for long, narrow spaces

A corridor is long and narrow, and the pattern decides whether it looks wider or longer. Here are corridors laid in our clients' homes with Maison Bahya encaustic cement tiles. Under each photo, the name of the design.

Encaustic tiles for a corridor floor

A corridor carries the traffic of the whole house. Encaustic tiles belong there: the pattern runs through the body of the tile and does not wear away, and the floor becomes more water-resistant over the years. Our floor tiles are 16 mm thick.

Which pattern for a narrow corridor?

Directional designs, such as chevrons, stripes or borders laid lengthways, stretch a corridor and give it depth. To widen it, lay stripes across the width, choose light shades and fine, light grout lines. A band of plain tiles framing a central pattern structures the length without narrowing it.

Tiling part of the wall lifts the eye and opens up the space.

Several patterns on a small surface

Our minimum order is one box, 12 floor tiles, so in a corridor you can combine several designs: one for the centre, one for the border.

Looking after a corridor floor

A doormat holds back the sand and grit that wear a floor down. For everyday cleaning, black soap or Marseille soap.

For entrance halls, see our hallway tiles. Order samples to see the colours in your own light, or design your tile in the tile designer and ask for a quote.
